The Sprinter van from Mercedes Benz has long been a reliable, functional workhorse . Now days a Sprinter van can be seen used as a mobile workshop, luxury camper, mobile store or practically any functional mobile space. Once loaded up with a full load and even heavy interior fit outs, the performance  is noticeably less. The best way to compensate for this loss is with a performance ECU tune. Benefits of tuning the V6 Bluetec Diesel power-plant are better fuel economy and faster times getting up to cruising speed. From dyno testing a 2016 V6 Bluetec powered Sprinter van, we saw huge performance gains of +111wTq @3500rpm +74wHp @3600rpm to the wheels on a Dynojet Dyno. These gains are depicted on the dynograph below (red is the stock unmodified baseline run and blue is the the performance ECU tune).

Jaguar F-Pace S with 3.0L V6 Supercharged – ECU Tune Dyno Tested

The latest offering from Jaguar is the F-Pace mid sized SUV. Stylish new looks and the interior styling you would expect from Jaguar, make this a good looking and very comfortable vehicle built for all terrain. Let’s not forget about the performance of the the Supercharged 3.0L V6 power plant. Proven already in other earlier Jag models like the S-Type, the Supercharged V6 is a beast that responds extremely well to tuning. After recent dyno testing, performance gains of +44wHp & +39wTq @6089rpm were seen to the wheels when testing on an AWD Mainline Dyno (depicted on dynograph below). The vehicle tested was a “First Edition” vehicle with no modifications, running CA91 octane premium gasoline.

Alfa Romeo 4C – ECU Tune Dyno Tested

Italian auto maker Alfa Romeo has launched its entry into the US market with the 4C. The 1.7L Turbocharged 4C is a lightweight, small sized, semi-exotic car with plenty of bang for the buck. Large carbon fiber weave adorns the interior cockpit with a nice amount or leather to balance, giving the interior a much more superior feel compared to other cars in this class like the Lotus Elise or Exige. The light and nimble 4C feels fine driving in stock form, but after tuning becomes a super responsive, super fun drive that brings a grin from ear to ear.

We recently had the opportunity to put a brand new unmodified US Spec Alfa 4C on the dyno to see what potential ECU tuning would yield. The results were fantastic, with much better response and power in the low end and a much harder pulling on the top end. The final result as seen on a Mainline dyno were gains of +48-55wHp gained on the mid range to top end and +55-60wTq gained on the low end through mid range (Dynograph displayed below). This upgrade is a huge improvement to power and overall performance, making the 4C a super fun car for spirited canyon and track driving.

C450 V6 Bi-Turbo Dyno Results (W205)

Mercedes Benz new V6 Bi-turbo power-plant is a has proven to respond extremely well to tuning. Recently we had the pleasure of testing our C450 tune with Seth from c450amg.com forum. Other ECU tunes and “piggy-back” boxes were tested on the street and dyno to provide an unbiased comparison and product evaluation. Dyno testing was done at Corr Performance in Louisiana on a All Wheel Drive Dyno Dynamics dyno. Peak gains over stock of +50wHp and +100wTq were reported from dyno testing, with greater gains seen in the mid range. The car tested was in unmodified trim running 93 octane premium gasoline. A dynograph of the results can be seen below.

BMW i8 – Dyno Testing

The automotive industry is an exciting and fast paced environment filled with ever changing technologies and advancements. One of the most notable advancements is the addition of Electric power plants in road going vehicles. When thinking of e-cars, most people automatically think of that slow Prius driver in the fast lane holding up regular traffic….. The i8 from BMW will have you change your mind in an instant.

The i8 is powered by way of a hybrid synchronous motor producing 129 hp & 184 lb·ft of torque to the front wheels and a 129 hp & 184 lb·ft, 1.5L I3 turbo engine (as found in the Mini Turbo) to power the rear. Combined output is 357 hp & 420 lb·ft of torque. This vehicle is a plugin electric vehicle for the e-motor with an added regular gasoline engine. When electric power runs out the car can operate  completely on gasoline power. The electric fuel cell is charged  during braking and cruise when not utilizing e-power when not plugged in for charging.

Mercedes Benz W222 S550 Performance ECU Tuning

“There is no such thing as too much power!”.  That being said, OE Tuning’s Stage 1 ECU tuning package for M278 4.7L biturbo gasoline V-8 is just the answer for Mercedes Benz S550 (also known as W222 S500 outside USA).

The Mercedes Benz M278 power-train is a monster after tuning that rivals performance of a stock 63AMG 5.5L bi-turbo. When compared during a side-by-side comparison on the street, the OE Tuning tuned S550 has performance slightly better than a S63 AMG biturbo. Performance gains as seen on the dyno are +110-130wTq & 100-110wHp to the wheels!

Hyundai Veloster Turbo – ECU Tune Results

After testing and dyno tuning Stage2 packages for Veloster 1.6L i4 Turbo, we decided to revisit tuning for an unmodified vehicle running CA91 premium pump gas. Retuning proved to make more power than previous tunes was making to the wheels! Final gains of +55wHp & +71.2wTq @3580rpm & +42wHp & + 28.2wTq @6148rpm (shown on dynograph pictured below). The unmodified run is described in light blue and the tuned run is described in red.

After completing final testing and development with hardware partners Mishimoto, we are proud to release performance data and power gains for the all new intake system for 45AMG. Great fitment, sleek under hood styling  and solid power gains make for a must have for your 45AMG. Back-to-back dyno testing with CAN data logging under varied conditions (engine reaching operating temp, engine hot, low IATs, High IAT, etc) yielded solid repeatable power gains. The baseline for this particular test was done on 2014 CLA45 AMG with Benzworks down-pipes installed, running CA91 premium pump gas and OE Tuning Stage2 ECU tune (the same CLA45 AMG we developed Stage1 and Stage2 ECU tuning packages). With just the extra addition of the Mishimoto 45AMG intake, peak wheel gains in the mid range of +44.5wHp and +45.9wTq @4543rpm were seen. Street testing and CAN data logging only confirmed what we saw on the dyno. A great improvement to what is already a phenomenal package to begin with and a complement to OE Tuning 45AMG Tunes.

OE Tuning F80 M3 – ECU Tune Dyno Testing and Development

Recently we had the opportunity to dyno test the OE Tuning Stage 1 ECU tune for 2015 BMW F80 M3 at Autowave in their state of the art Mainline Dyno Cell. The benefits of testing a high performance vehicle in a well engineered dyno cell are many. Maintaining constant airflow, cooling and intake air temps while keeping all conditions the same, ensure rolling road conditions similar to on road driving. The results are accurate data to make operating changes needed to gain the best, safe performance and numbers to the wheel. Also the benefit of CAN logging via OBD2 allows the tuner to compare real-time vehicle operating data against dyno recorded output variables like Horsepower and Air-Fuel ratio. The vehicle tested was a 2015 F80 M3 with no mods running CA91 premium pump gas. After the ECU is unlocked, tunes are loaded via OBD2.
