Porsche 996 Turbo Street/Track Tuning

Professional driver Carl Rydquist recently came to us with his project Porsche 996 Turbo. Carl, just back from his recent trip to Germany to drive a Porche Cup Car in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, wanted the best car for the track while still being a daily driver. First came a rear wheel conversion. Also, help from the guys at AE Performance, came in the form of an AE Performance exhaust system with high flow race cats. Also was the addition of upgraded K24 Turbos, to make this street sleeper more like the factory X50 or Turbo S. The car was tuned to be daily driven on CA91 pump gas and also at the track on higher octane race fuels. We started the tuning with an “X50″ like base map (1Bar peak boost on wastegate) to suit the larger turbos and went from there. The goal was to achieve 1.1Bar of boost and keep the car super reliable. As you can see from the dynograph displayed below the car gained great mid to top end power of +55wHp & +50wTq @5800rpm (to the rear wheels). The rpm limit was also stretched to 7000rpm, the car making great power all the way to redline. The car was finished off with some handling and breaking changes, and a set of 19” F14 Forgestar wheels, wrapped in Hankook RS3 rubber.

Fast Five “Ultimate Heist Vehicle” Challenge

Last Wednesday, we entered our two shop cars into the Fast Five “Ultimate Heist Vehicle Challenge” in which the organizers of the event set out to find which car would be able to handle lugging around the stolen loot and escaping from the police in the least amount of time. Staged at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond,Ca, this challenge was to put any car that entered, through a brutal test that would result in one car rising above the rest as the “Ultimate Heist Vehicle”. Upon arrival, we quickly noticed that the 2011 X5M that we had entered would be the immediate favorite amongst not only ourselves, but also our competitors in regards to both the gratuitous amount of both horsepower and cargo room provided. Alongside the X5M, we had another ace up our sleeves in the form of a black 2011 C63 AMG that just received the latest that  OE Tuning has to offer. Equipped with long tube headers, exhaust system and OE Tuning’s latest ECU file, the C63’s bite was equally as ferocious as its bark and that surely impressed the judges. While not exactly what we’d like to call an underdog, the C63’s 600BHP was definitely no slouch. Although not sure of the cargo room provided in the car, we went ahead and handed the keys over to Grand Am and Redline Time Attack superstar Jeff Westphal to see what he could do, and well….we’ll let the results speak for themselves. Watch “Part 2” to see OE Tuning’s C63 take out the victory.

Audi R8 V10 – Dyno Tuning Results

The V10 R8 from Audi is every bit the supercar. The 5.2L direct injected V10 power plant is the same found in Lamborghini’s Gallardo LP560-4, though detuned in the R8.
The vehicle recently tested was a 2010 Audi R8 V10, 6-speed, courtesy of AE Performance. Audi’s Quattro system puts the power down to all 4 wheels. During dyno testing the gains seen were +43.2wHp & +28.6wTq @7900rpm from ecu tuning running CA91 pump gas on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Drivability is also improved by changes made to the throttle response.
