CLS63 AMG Bi-Turbo – Performance Package (P89) vs. Non-Performance Package

Recently OE Tuning had the opportunity to dyno test on the same dyno on the same day a CLS63 Bi-Turbo with P89 Performance Package and a  CLS63 Bi-Turbo without P89 Performance Package. Each vehicle had a baseline run on the Dynojet dyno before the ecu was tuned and tuned runs were made without changing strapping or setup of each vehicle. Both vehicles were running 93 octane premium pumpgas.

Below are the results from tuning the CLS63 Bi-Turbo without P89 Performance Package.

CLS63AMG BiTurbo non-PP Dyno - Baseline vs ECU tune

Below are the results from tuning the CLS63 Bi-Turbo with P89 Performance Package.

CLS63AMG BiTurbo P89 Dyno - Baseline vs ECU tune

Below is a comparison of the results for CLS63 Bi-Turbo without P89 Performance Package vs. CLS63 Bi-Turbo with P89 Performance Package.

Performance Package P89 vs Non-Performance Package - Baseline & ECU Tune

Conclusions made from the results seen on the dyno are:

A tuned P89 CLS63 Bi-Turbo and non-P89 CLS63 Bi-Turbo yield the same final results after ECU tuning.

Obviously the non-P89 CLS63 Bi-Turbo is rated less from Mercedes Benz as seen when comparing the baseline of a P89 vehicle with the baseline of a non-P89 vehicle.

This same powerplant can be found in all NEW Mercedes Benz 63AMG Bi-Turbo models.

CLS63 AMG Bi-Turbo ECU Tune – Version 2 TESTED

After much testing on the 5.5L Bi-Turbo powertrain, including performance package vehicles, here are the updated results from recent dyno testing of OE Tuning’s ECU tune for the CLS63 AMG Bi-Turbo. The 63 AMG Bi-Turbo powerplant is a 5.5L V8 twin turbo charged monster that responds extremely well to tuning. The vehicle tested was a P89 performance package CLS63 Bi-Turbo running CA91 premium pump gas, no mods. From tuning the ECU, this particular vehicle made +80Hp & +114Tq @3800rpm to the wheels on an independent 2WD Dyno Dynamics dyno when comparing the baseline and tuned runs. Baseline and tuned runs were run consecutively with the same strap down on the same day. The power was rolled into on the particular tuned run pictured below, the car wanted to jump the rollers with such a huge low-end torque gain!

Stage 2 tunes to suit exhaust modifications are available.
