Porsche 996 Turbo Street/Track Tuning

Professional driver Carl Rydquist recently came to us with his project Porsche 996 Turbo. Carl, just back from his recent trip to Germany to drive a Porche Cup Car in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, wanted the best car for the track while still being a daily driver. First came a rear wheel conversion. Also, help from the guys at AE Performance, came in the form of an AE Performance exhaust system with high flow race cats. Also was the addition of upgraded K24 Turbos, to make this street sleeper more like the factory X50 or Turbo S. The car was tuned to be daily driven on CA91 pump gas and also at the track on higher octane race fuels. We started the tuning with an “X50″ like base map (1Bar peak boost on wastegate) to suit the larger turbos and went from there. The goal was to achieve 1.1Bar of boost and keep the car super reliable. As you can see from the dynograph displayed below the car gained great mid to top end power of +55wHp & +50wTq @5800rpm (to the rear wheels). The rpm limit was also stretched to 7000rpm, the car making great power all the way to redline. The car was finished off with some handling and breaking changes, and a set of 19” F14 Forgestar wheels, wrapped in Hankook RS3 rubber.
